متن کاملCrack surface roughness in three-dimensional random fuse networks.
Using large system sizes with extensive statistical sampling, we analyze the scaling properties of crack roughness and damage profiles in the three-dimensional random fuse model. The analysis of damage profiles indicates that damage accumulates in a diffusive manner up to the peak load, and localization sets in abruptly at the peak load, starting from a uniform damage landscape. The global crac...
متن کاملA new conforming mesh generator for three-dimensional discrete fracture networks
Nowadays, numerical modelings play a key role in analyzing hydraulic problems in fractured rock media. The discrete fracture network model is one of the most used numerical models to simulate the geometrical structure of a rock-mass. In such media, discontinuities are considered as discrete paths for fluid flow through the rock-mass while its matrix is assumed impermeable. There are two main pa...
متن کاملCrack avalanches in the three dimensional random fuse model
We analyze the scaling of avalanche precursors in the three dimensional random fuse model by numerical simulations. We find that both the integrated and nonintegrated avalanche size distributions are in good agreement with the results of the global load sharing fiber bundle model, which represents the mean-field limit of the model.
متن کاملAn Efficient Algorithm For Simulating Fracture Using Large Fuse Networks
The high computational cost involved in modeling of the progressive fracture simulations using large discrete lattice networks stems from the requirement to solve a new large set of linear equations every time a new lattice bond is broken. To address this problem, we propose an algorithm that combines the multiple-rank sparse Cholesky downdating algorithm with the rank-p inverse updating algori...
